Google Translate.
Is it only russian groups we suggest here? I'm not quite fond of the russian scene but can list a group or two. For example, Kuryokhin and his band "Поп Механика". New Composers, as well. Агата Кристи, ГрОб, Звуки Му, Аукцыон are well known here but it's what you would call an entry level music.

Not sure if you're real American, but if so here's what I like in Russian music. To start with, I'm mostly into the 60-80's music, so I really enjoy listening to Soviet Estrada or Rock of that time. And I believe that it deserves attention, because despite of censorship, officially approved pop music was written and sung by professionals, sometimes by bands (called VIA). Their arrangements were rich and complex, combining different genres (jazz, soft-rock, traditional pop), so there are many hidden gems which resemble Japanese city pop: Ariel, Pesniary, Sinyaya Ptitsa. I also like the earlier examples of the 60s vocal classics sung by Pjekha, Miansarova, Klement, Obodzinsky. And the 80s saw several stars, whose songs I really enjoy: Anne Veski, Sofiya Rotaru, Ksenia Georgiadi, Roza Rymbaeva, Yuri Antonov, Irina Otieva. Apart from officially approved singers and bands, there were, of course, underground or less approved groups such as Mashina Vremeni, Tsvety, Vladimir Kuzmin and his Dynamic band (the first New Wave band in the USSR and my dad's favorite), Mirazh, Laskoviy May, Kino, Piknik.

Not a huge fan of Russian-language music, but these four albums are pretty rad.

Don't you forget about the hidden genre gem which is sadly unknown even to true music lovers with a broad and rich musical taste - the so-called ChurkoRAP, which is extremely popular in this country. You can hear it banging out of almost every rent car, cheap and rusty LADA or dirty delivery van. Everybody likes it! A bearded man from Central Asia, a bydlo chick who works as a saleswoman or a yesterday's schkolnik from kolkhoz can't imagine his party without ChurkoRAP blasting his cheap Chinese BT Speaker with colorful lights. Not mentioning the fellow compatriots of the singers, who drive Camrys or Prioras with 100% tinted windows.
